About the quizzes

Self-assessment that teaches, not just tests

MD Acumen quizzes are designed by Professor Rajesh Varma — a practising NHS GP Partner, GP Trainer, and Professor of Primary Care — and clinically verified against contemporary UK and international guidelines. Every question carries a detailed, guideline-referenced justification, so the quiz itself becomes a learning event, not simply a grading exercise.

On terminology. The MD Acumen clinical library uses DCRM — Diabetes, Cardiorenal, and Metabolic diseases — as the preferred multispecialty term following the Handelsman et al. DCRM 2.0 consensus (Metabolism 2024;159:155931). This is closely related to, and used interchangeably with, CVRM (cardiovascular-renal-metabolic) in therapeutic-area literature and CKM (cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic) in the 2023 AHA Presidential Advisory and the 2026 ACC/AHA Dyslipidemia Guideline. Although the framing differs slightly, the clinical domain encompasses the same core conditions: type 2 diabetes, chronic kidney disease, atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, heart failure, obesity, hypertension, dyslipidaemias, and MASLD/MASH.
