Your CPD certificate
The MD Acumen certificate is issued automatically when you complete a sample mini-module or a sample synoptic self-assessment. It records your name, the date, the module or synoptic completed, your score (for synoptics), and your short personal reflection — all on a single page that you save as a PDF to your CPD portfolio.
Last editorial review: 14 May 2026 · Next scheduled refresh: 1 December 2026.
The certificate is the last step of each free CPD activity
The certificate is not a standalone page that you can request — it is the closing block of every sample mini-module and every sample synoptic self-assessment. The certificate block appears at the foot of the activity, populates automatically from what you have entered, and prints to a single page that you save as a PDF for your CPD portfolio. There is no log-in, no email capture, no fee.
Choose your activity
Open any sample mini-module (/academy/samples) or sample synoptic self-assessment (/academy/synoptics). Each is free, browser-based, and works on mobile.
Enter your name at the start
The activity asks for the name you would like to appear on your certificate. This is stored locally in your browser only — MD Acumen does not transmit or retain it.
Complete the activity
For a sample module: work through the sections in order, opening the case vignettes and the in-section knowledge checks. For a synoptic: answer all 20 single-best-answer items, then click Mark my answers. Your score and the per-item formative feedback appear at the foot of the page.
Write a short personal reflection
The reflection box appears just before the certificate. Two to four sentences are sufficient. The reflection auto-inserts into the certificate as you type, with a fallback wording supplied if you would prefer not to write your own (see Section 03).
Print / save as PDF
Click Print / Save as PDF on the certificate. Your browser’s standard print dialog opens; choose “Save as PDF” as the destination. The certificate prints on a single A4 page suitable for your CPD portfolio.
Eight fields, auto-populated
| Field | Source | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Your name | The name you typed at the start of the activity | Stored locally; never transmitted |
| Activity title | The mini-module or synoptic title | Includes the curriculum-area anchor (DCRM, Menopause & Andropause, Headache) |
| Date of completion | Auto-populated from the device clock | Formatted in British English (e.g. 14 May 2026) |
| CPD time claimed | Programme-set (typically ~30 min for a synoptic, 45–90 min for a mini-module) | Aligned to the activity duration; you may adjust upward if you spent longer on the reflection or further reading |
| Items reviewed / sections completed | Synoptic: 20 / 20 items; Module: 10 / 10 sections | Synoptic adds your score (e.g. 17 / 20) |
| Curriculum anchor | The NICE / KDIGO / ESC / EAS / BMS / BSSM guideline anchors that the activity references | Listed explicitly under the title |
| Personal reflection | Two-to-four sentence reflection you typed, or the supplied fallback wording | Auto-inserts as you type; appears in the body of the certificate |
| Issuing authority | MD Acumen Ltd, authored by Prof Rajesh Varma | Independent of pharmaceutical sponsorship |
For a synoptic self-assessment, the certificate additionally records the score and the breakdown across the four blueprint quadrants (e.g. Cardiometabolic risk 4/5; Lipid management 5/5; Diabetes & obesity 4/5; Kidney & HF 4/5). This breakdown helps you identify which microcredential within the parent PGCert you would benefit most from undertaking first.
If you would prefer not to write your own, the fallback wording below auto-inserts
UK CPD bodies expect a short reflective statement, not a long essay. Two to four sentences are sufficient. Below are the default templates that auto-insert into the certificate if you leave the reflection box empty. You can use the templates as written, edit them, or write your own.
After completing a sample mini-module
“I have completed this MD Acumen mini-module and reviewed the case vignettes and in-section knowledge checks. I will integrate the principal evidence updates into my consultations over the next month, and re-read the section that I found the most challenging. I will identify one patient on my list where my current management does not match the guideline anchor and adjust accordingly.”
After completing a sample synoptic self-assessment
“I have completed this MD Acumen synoptic self-assessment of 20 single-best-answer items. I will revisit the question topics where I selected the wrong option, with particular attention to the guideline references provided in the feedback. I will identify the quadrant in which I scored lowest and look up the corresponding mini-module section for further reading.”
What you can claim, and where this certificate sits
What you can claim
Each MD Acumen certificate records the indicative CPD time for the activity. UK CPD bodies (RCGP, GMC appraisal, NHS revalidation) generally accept self-directed online CPD on the basis of a reflective statement plus a record of the activity completed. Save the certificate to your CPD portfolio and add it to your appraisal evidence.
Accreditation status
The MD Acumen Academy sample materials are not presently RCGP-accredited or CPD-Provider-Standard-Mark accredited. The accreditation negotiation is in progress; see /academy/accreditation. The certificate is therefore a Certificate of Professional Learning Activity, not a Royal-College-accredited CPD certificate. Most UK appraisers accept either, provided a reflective statement is included.
Your name, your reflection, your device
MD Acumen does not transmit or retain your name, your reflection, or your synoptic responses. Everything is stored only in the browser’s local storage on the device you used to complete the activity. The certificate is generated in your browser; the print-to-PDF flow uses your browser’s native print dialog. If you clear your browser’s site data or use a different device, the entries do not persist. There is no log-in, no email capture, no fee.
How to reset your stored entries. Click the Reset button on the activity page to clear the stored name and reflection. Alternatively, clear site data for mdacumen.com in your browser settings.
