02 · About the event

The first all-day primary-care educational meeting under the Acumen Academy banner

The 22 November 2025 Primary Care Symposium was the first all-day educational meeting in what would become the Acumen Academy Primary Care Masterclass series. Originally branded the Trident I Primary Care Symposium, it was hosted at the DoubleTree by Hilton London Elstree in Borehamwood and convened by Prof Rajesh Varma — GP Partner, GP Trainer and NICE Guideline Member. The event drew a multi-disciplinary delegate audience of UK-registered healthcare professionals from across the Hertfordshire and adjacent ICB regions, and ran from 08:30 through to 16:00 across an eight-topic programme of short, high-impact didactic sessions, networking time with sponsor stands, a working lunch, and a real-life clinical-case discussion panel.

The event delivered six accredited CPD points to attending UK-registered healthcare professionals. It established the all-day, multi-topic, multi-disciplinary, free-to-attend, ABPI-compliant format that has carried forward as the signature shape of every subsequent Acumen Academy Primary Care Masterclass.

04 · Day format

How the day was structured

The day ran across the standard Acumen Academy all-day format that has since become the signature shape of every Primary Care Masterclass. Registration opened at 08:30 to allow delegates time to network with sponsor stands and settle in before sessions began. Short, high-impact didactic sessions were delivered through the morning, separated by a structured break and followed by a sponsor-networking interval and a working lunch. The afternoon resumed with further didactic sessions and concluded with the Real-Life Clinical Cases interactive panel, with closing plenary, feedback collection and certificate distribution by 16:00. The day’s pace prioritised concision and clinical applicability over exhaustive coverage; the rhythm of short didactic blocks separated by genuine networking time is a deliberate pedagogical choice that the subsequent Acumen Academy masterclasses have preserved.

05 · ABPI compliance & sponsorship

The 22 November 2025 event was fully ABPI compliant

Sponsorship statement (as printed on the original course flyer). Pharmaceutical companies sponsored the event by providing exhibition stand space only. Sponsors were not involved in the content of the agenda or in the content of any of the presentations. Sponsors did not influence the selection of expert speakers. The educational meeting was fully ABPI compliant.

Delegates were encouraged to take time to speak to sponsors during the dedicated networking intervals, which is the appropriate ABPI-compliant context for delegate-sponsor engagement at an educational meeting of this kind. The substantive educational content of the day — every didactic session and the closing case-based panel — was authored, prepared and delivered independently of any pharmaceutical-industry input.

The forthcoming Acumen Academy Primary Care Masterclass on Saturday 21 November 2026 will follow the same ABPI-compliant funding model. The pharmaceutical-sponsorship register for the 21 November 2026 event will be published transparently on the dedicated event page once the sponsorship roster confirms.

06 · Audience

UK-Registered HCPs across primary and secondary care

The 22 November 2025 event was open free of charge to UK-registered healthcare professionals — including general practitioners, hospital consultants, resident doctors, pharmacist independent prescribers, advanced clinical practitioners, physiotherapists, dietitians and senior nursing colleagues. The intellectual register was calibrated to senior-GP and consultant level, sufficiently practical to translate into Monday-morning practice, and sufficiently rigorous to satisfy the post-MRCGP, post-CCT and post-Master’s-tier learner.

07 · Certification

CPD-accredited Certificate of Attendance

Delegates who attended and completed the 22 November 2025 event received a CPD-accredited Certificate of Attendance declaring six accredited CPD points for full attendance. The certificate is suitable for inclusion in personal CPD portfolios under RCGP, GMC, GPhC, NMC and HCPC frameworks as evidence of accredited professional development.

08 · Guideline context · the canon as it stood at delivery, 22 November 2025

The contemporary pivotal-guideline canon at the time of delivery

The inaugural Masterclass was delivered against the contemporary pivotal-guideline canon as it stood at November 2025: type-2-diabetes prescribing under the then-current iteration of NICE NG28 (the Feb 2026 dual / triple-therapy first-line update was not yet published); the just-published 2025 ESC/EAS Focused Update on dyslipidaemias; KDIGO 2024 + NICE NG203 + NICE TA877 finerenone; EASL–EASD–EASO 2024 MASLD; NICE NG23 (Nov 2024 update) + BMS Practice Standards (Dec 2022); the DCRM 2.0 multispecialty framework; NICE CG150 + the NICE CGRP-mAb and gepant TA set + the MHRA topiramate January 2024 prescribing restriction. The BMS Feb 2026 HRT Guide and NICE TA1143 fezolinetant (Mar 2026) post-dated the event and were therefore not yet available.
