Who we are, and when these terms apply
mdacumen.com is operated by MD Acumen Ltd, trading as MD Acumen, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16538952), based in Hertfordshire, United Kingdom. Contact: enquiry@mdacumen.com.
By using this website you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site. Booking a course, joining a programme, or studying on learn.mdacumen.com may involve additional terms, which we will give you at the time; where they conflict with these terms, the additional terms apply to that course or programme.
Using this website
1. Who the site is for
This site provides education for medical students, doctors and other healthcare professionals. It is not designed for patients or the public.
2. No medical advice to the public
Nothing on this site is medical advice for any individual. Clinical cases, scripts and examples are teaching material, not guidance on your own health or anyone else's. If you are unwell, contact your GP or NHS 111; in an emergency, call 999. Healthcare professionals remain responsible for applying current national and local guidance and their own clinical judgement to each patient, as set out on our Legal & Regulatory page.
3. Acceptable use
You may browse the site, read and print pages, and use our free practice materials for your own study. You must not:
- use the site in any way that is unlawful, fraudulent or harmful, or that breaches professional confidentiality;
- share, request or post real examination content from any examination you or anyone else has sat, including GMC PLAB and RCGP examinations, in any class, form or channel we run;
- share a personal joining link for a live class, or join a class under another person's name;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, its hosting, or any linked service, or introduce malicious code;
- copy content from the site in bulk by automated means, or compile it into a dataset or product, without our written permission;
- include identifiable patient information in anything you submit to us.
We may suspend access to a class, course or service if these terms are breached.
4. Copyright and intellectual property
The text, cases, mark schemes, figures, diagrams, slides and other materials on this site are © MD Acumen Ltd unless stated otherwise, and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property rights. The MD Acumen name and logo are ours.
You may use the materials for your own personal, non-commercial study, and you may share links to our pages. You must not reproduce, adapt, sell, or use the materials to teach a course or build a question bank or other product, whether paid or free, without our written permission. Requests to enquiry@mdacumen.com.
Material we quote from others, such as published guidance from the GMC, NICE and other bodies, remains theirs and is used with attribution for teaching.
5. Accuracy and currency
We take care to keep our content accurate and current. Each page shows the date it was last reviewed, and clinical content is checked against the guidance current at that date. Guidance changes, and we cannot guarantee that every page is complete, error-free or current on the day you read it. If you find an error, please tell us at enquiry@mdacumen.com.
6. Examinations and awards
Our examination-preparation courses do not guarantee any examination result. Our certificates and awards mean only what is stated on our Legal & Regulatory page and the relevant programme page. MD Acumen Ltd is a teaching authority, not an awarding authority; academic credit is awarded only by a partner university, and only where stated.
7. Links to other websites
We link to other websites, such as the GMC, NICE, GOV.UK and the services we use for bookings, forms and live classes. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices. A link is not an endorsement.
8. Availability
We aim to keep the site available, but we do not guarantee that it will always be available or uninterrupted. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the site without notice.
9. Our liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, nothing here affects your statutory rights.
Subject to that, the website and its free materials are provided for general educational use, and we are not liable for any loss arising from use of, or reliance on, the website or its content, including loss of profit, business or opportunity, or any indirect or consequential loss. Where you pay for a course, our liability is set out in the terms for that course.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page, with its review date, is the one that applies when you use the site.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
