Credit

What 4 ECTS and 6 ECTS mean

One ECTS credit represents 30 hours of student work: taught sessions, examinations and guided independent study together.

November 2026

WHEEL · 4 ECTS (120 h). Eight live webinars (Tuesdays 10:00–12:30 and Saturdays 10:00–13:30, Georgia time) from 20 October, then on campus from 16 to 20 November.

Cardiometabolic · 6 ECTS (180 h). The extended delivery: longer webinars (Tuesdays 16:00–19:00 and Saturdays 16:00–20:00, Georgia time) from 27 October, then a five-day on-campus week of 7-hour days with clinical lectures, case-based practical classes and coaching (24 to 28 November). The extra 60 hours buy more contact time and a longer mid-term examination.

March–April 2027 (proposed)

Cardiometabolic · 4 ECTS (120 h). Webinars from 16 March (Tuesdays 10:00–12:30, Saturdays 10:00–13:30, Georgia time); on campus 12 to 16 April.

WHEEL · 4 ECTS (120 h). Webinars from 23 March (Tuesdays 16:00–18:00, Saturdays 16:00–17:30, Georgia time), with directed clinical e-cases between sessions; on campus 19 to 23 April, with afternoons kept for the capstone project.

Assessment

Methods of assessment — the same structure in every delivery

Two summative assessments in every elective, credit value and term: a 60-point mid-term examination at the end of the four webinar weeks, and the 40-point capstone project, submitted in writing and presented orally in the on-campus week. Weekly self-assessment quizzes support learning and are not graded.

ComponentWhat it involvesWeighting
Mid-term examination (summative)Single-best-answer multiple-choice questions covering Weeks 1–4, sat online, on the secure learning platform (or the university’s Canvas or Moodle, to be confirmed) on the Sunday after the fourth week of webinars, at 18:00 UK time. At least 11 points are needed to sit the final assessment.60 points
Capstone project (summative)An individual, policy-informed analysis of a clinical case, allocated from an anonymised case bank or, where available, an anonymised case from the student’s own clinical experience, benchmarked against a stated European objective (2,000 words; 5–10 references in Vancouver style; up to 4 tables and 4 figures). The written project is submitted on the learning platform by 12:00 on the Wednesday of the on-campus week (25 points) and presented to a faculty panel on the final afternoon — a 5-minute presentation followed by questions (15 points).40 points
Formative self-assessment (not graded)At the end of each webinar week: 10 multiple-choice questions (WHEEL) or 15 (Cardiometabolic), with worked answers, for practice. Separate from the mid-term examination and the capstone project.—
To pass: at least 51 of 100 points overall; at least 11 of 60 in the mid-term examination to sit the final assessment; and the host university’s minimum for the capstone project (20 or 24 of 40 points). AI tools may be used, but every use must be declared in writing; the oral presentation tests the student’s own reasoning.
