Two Certificates of Advanced Studies, kept current after the award

Certificate of Advanced Studies awarded by New Vision University, Tbilisi, Georgia; 10 ECTS (20 UK credits); pitched at EQF level 7, equivalent in level to the FHEQ level 7 descriptors. New Vision University is not a UK degree-awarding body; recognition of credit is at the discretion of receiving institutions. A university-authorised postgraduate award set to the structure of UK and European CAS programmes, it gives the expert knowledge and the clinical-governance grounding needed for extended-scope and extended-role practice in the topic, at neighbourhood level and as a GP with an extended role. Recognition for any role rests with the ICB or employer and the relevant national framework; the CAS prepares for it and does not by itself confer it. About one item in eight is optional stretch, written to the doctoral (FHEQ level 8) descriptors; it never counts towards the award. New Vision University is a Georgian university. Its primary medical qualification appears on the GMC’s list of overseas qualifications it may accept, subject to the GMC’s individual checks; that list concerns undergraduate medical degrees. The Certificate of Advanced Study is a postgraduate award made under NVU’s own authority. It is not a licence and carries no GMC recognition.
